My Scouting Experience

My International journey in Scouting began in 2003, and since then, I have been dedicated to fostering leadership, resilience, and community service among young people. From serving as Vice-chair and Chair of the National Youth Network to coordinating national and subregional jamborees, my roles have spanned various levels of Scouting. My experiences as Vice Chairperson and Chairperson of the Interamerican Scout Committee have equipped me with the skills to contribute effectively at a global level, driving the mission and vision of Scouting forward.

Chairperson, Interamerican Scout Committee (2018-2022)

As Chairperson, I led the committee in developing and executing strategies to strengthen Scouting in the region. Delivering the triennial plan during the COVID-19 pandemic, I witnessed the incredible resilience of Scouts. Growth took on a new meaning—not just in numbers but in resilience, creativity, and unity. We worked to address the unique challenges posed by the crisis, emphasizing the importance of strong, well-managed, and sustainable Scout organizations. This period reinforced the need for fit-for-purpose organizations, comprehensive support for our volunteers, and adapting to the evolving needs of our youth.

Growth & Strategy Coordination Group,
WOSM Operational Framework
(2018-2021)

As a member of the World Scout Committee, I was part of the Growth & Strategy Coordination Group, helping to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the World Triennial plan and guaranteeing alignment across WOSM's Operational Framework.

Vice Chairperson, Interamerican Scout Committee (2016-2018)

I served as Vice Chairperson, member of the Regional Steering Committee supporting in strategic planning, regional coordination, and the implementation of the regional triennial plan in close collaboration with staff and volunteers. 

GSAT Facilitator, Interamerican Region 
(2015)

I facilitated the Global Support Assessment Tool (GSAT) assessments, helping Scout organizations improve their operational effectiveness and governance.

Jamboree Director, 15th Caribbean Jamboree (2012-2014)

As the Jamboree Director, I led the planning and execution of the 15th Caribbean Jamboree, ensuring a successful and memorable event for all participants.

22nd World Scout Jamboree
(2010-2011)

I contributed to the planning and coordination of the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, working with external organizations to deliver program at the Global Development Village enhance the event’s impact and reach.

Youth Network Coordinator,
Interamerican Scout Committee
(2007-2010)

As the Youth Network Coordinator for the Interamerican Scout Committee, I facilitated regional youth programs and initiatives, enhancing youth participation and leadership within the Scouting community. My role involved ensuring constant communication among youth at local, national, and regional levels, and designing and developing a three-year work plan aligned with the Regional Plan. I encouraged the active participation of young people in developing projects and promoted best practices of youth participation in Scouting, strengthening youth engagement and involvement throughout the region.

Youth Network Scouting Antiano
(2003-2010)

I began my leadership journey by serving in Scouting Antiano's Youth Network where I focused on youth engagement and development, helping to shape future leaders within our National Scout Organization. 

Jamboree Coordinator,
National Jamboree (2009)

I coordinated the National Jamboree, overseeing the planning and execution of this significant event, which brought together Scouts from across the islands of the Dutch Caribbean for a week of activities, learning, and camaraderie.

Scout Leader,
Cariben Scout Group
(2005 – Present)

Starting my official Scouting journey at age 7, the Cariben Scout Group has been my anchor and safe space for growth. As a Scout Leader, I have mentored young Scouts, organized activities, and fostered a strong sense of community and leadership. This role has allowed me to create core memories and provide a nurturing environment for young people to develop their skills, resilience, and sense of belonging.
